Abstract

Texto preparado para o Seminário Internacional sobre Modelos Avaliativos (SEE/SP, FCC, apoio Banco Mundial). Um conjunto de ações da Secretaria de Estado da Educação de São Paulo, visando aprimorar a qualidade do esnino e reverter o quadro de evasão e retenção nas séries iniciais do 1º Grau, na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo, é apresentado pelas autoras, que realizaram um follow-up (1992/94) e um estudo antropológico.
