Representation: transversal notion, a tool of the transdisciplinarity

In recent years, globalization has established links among different sciences and imposed transdisciplinarity as a theme for the study of social representations. This text reflects on the ways and principles of transdisciplinarity and on the relevance of the notion of representation for the development of transdisciplinary approaches. Transdisciplinarity is different from multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity and to be understood requires a harmonization of concepts and tools and further discussion. Hence, the use of representation as a unifying concept mainly in regard to psychological disciplines.
