Escuelas charter: gestión de profesores y adquisición de recursos en Colombia

Resumen

Las escuelas charter son ofrecidas como una solución en distritos escolares en los cuales las escuelas públicas son consideradas como un fracaso. Aunque los análisis generales de los resultados de las escuelas charter tienden a descubrir que ellas no producen mejores resultados académicos, este modelo de gestión escolar sigue siendo un tema candente. Sin embargo, dos de los aspectos de la experiência de la escuela charter que reciben menos atención son la gestión de profesores y la adquisición de recursos. Abordamos estos temas a través del estudio de un programa de escuelas charter en Bogotá, Colombia, que comenzó en 1999. En este modelo, la ciudad de Bogotá reclutó a escuelas y otras organizaciones privadas para administrar 25 escuelas charter, que fueron construidas y bien equipadas en áreas marginadas.
