Abstract

A caracterização e análise das variáveis que interferem no processo de desenvolvimento do auto-conceito tem sido uma das abordagens mais empregadas na área de estudo da auto-avaliação. A importância deste tipo de enfoque é dada não apenas pela maior compreensão teórica que traz sobre o fenômeno em si, mas também por suas contribuições para a elaboração de uma estratégia a ser desenvolvida pela escola no sentido de provocar as mudanças desejáveis no grau de auto-estima dos alunos. A natureza das variáveis selecionadas como objeto de estudo tem sido muito diversificada, por ser sua escolha, em uma grande parte, determinada pela perspectiva teórica e campo a atuação do pesquisador.
