Abstract

O trabalho discute o recente interesse pelo pré-escolar no Brasil, relacionando-o com o contexto social e com o exemplo de outros países. São examinadas as várias modalidades existentes de atendimento e a carência de vagas, sendo sugeridos critérios para uma política de assistência nesta área.
