Alfabetização: uma proposta para a escola pública

Abstract

O presente trabalho relata os principais aspectos de uma experiência de alfabetização desenvolvida em escolas públicas da região de Mogi das Cruzes, Estado de São Paulo. Tal projeto, conhecido como PROLESTE (Projeto de Alfabetização da Zona Leste), foi implantado e desenvolvido por educadores da rede de ensino público e psicólogos educacionais da Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes. Apresenta-se, inicialmente, uma análise dos principais fatores responsáveis pelo fracasso escolar, seguida das descrições do conceito de projeto, das principais características do programa de alfabetização utilizado e das condições básicas para sua implantação.
