Abstract

Uma revisão da literatura brasileira especializada permite identificar justificativas e motivações para a formação profissional do deficiente mental. Grande parte do discurso destina-se à persuasão de agentes públicos e privados, apontando benefícios de ordem econômica e social decorrentes da profissionalização do deficiente; raras vezes a literatura se volta para os próprios portadores de deficiência e para os benefícios reais que lhes adviriam de tal formação.
