Abstract

Educadores e estudiosos que se preocupam com o papel que a educação pode desempenhar para a melhoria das condições sociais e culturais em que vivem os seres humanos têm apontado com freqüência como o sistema de ensino reproduz a ajuda a manter as desigualdades existentes na sociedade. Gostaria de falar um pouco de um aspecto desse problema que tem sido relegado a segundo plano, ou apenas mencionado de passagem: o de como a educação escolar transmite e reforça padrões de comportamento sexual culturalmente estereotipados, reproduzindo, dessa forma, as desigualdades de condições e de oportunidades que existem entre homens e mulheres na nossa sociedade, quase sempre com prejuízo destas últimas.
