Percepção social em crianças: estereótipos sexuais na percepção da família

Abstract

O artigo relata os resultados de um estudo exploratório sobre percepção social em crianças, de ambos os sexos e de três grupos etários (5, 7 e 9 anos). Foram testadas 180 crianças de várias escolas particulares de São Paulo, através de um instrumento (TPS) no qual bonecos representando a família da criança são classificados em várias dimensões, tais como força e atividade. Os resultados mostram que as crianças progressivamente incorporam às suas percepções os estereótipos culturais a respeito dos papéis masculinos e femininos. Os estereótipos também afetam substancialmente o desenvolvimento do autoconceito de meninos e meninas.
