Abstract

O trabalho procura contrapor alguns dados a respeito do sistema de ensino de 1º e 2º graus no Brasil aos objetivos expressos nos planos oficiais para o período de 1975-79. São comentados, além dos dados quantitativos da PNAD-76 relativos a esses graus de ensino a orientação curricular existente, os problemas da pré-escola e do ensino supletivo. A distância encontrada entre as principais metas governamentais e a realidade da seletividade do sistema de ensino expressa, segundo o trabalho, a contradição entre o modelo de desenvolvimento adotado e as tentativas de democratização do ensino.
