Casamento e papéis familiares em São Paulo no século XIX

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o papel do casamento na sociedade paulista durante o século XIX. Com base nos dados contidos nos recenseamentos da população, testamentos e diversos documentos manuscritos referentes ao período, procuramos fazer uma análise dos arranjos matrimoniais e respectivos critérios de seleção de cônjuges buscando uma explicação para o baixo índice de nupcialidade encontrado entre elementos provenientes dos diferentes grupos sociais. Atenção especial foi dedicada no final da exposição ao processo de socialização, agente regulador do princípio de autoridade e da divisão de incumbência no casamento.Downloads
